Dutch Peanut Sauce with Fries

This Dutch Peanut Sauce is served with snacks, appetizers like grilled meat skewers, and fries, also with vegetables like cucumber and carrots. We will make this sauce with fries and trust me this sauce is known for its taste. Now there are two ways to make it. The first one is with mayonnaise and the second one is without mayonnaise but on the stove. Let’s start with the ingredients.

  • With Mayonnaise

Ingredients

1/4 cup peanut butter

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons of soy Sauce

1 tablespoon of water

1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste

¼ of cumin powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Chili paste or sambal oelek (Optional)

Recipe

Mix all the ingredients like mayonnaise, peanut butter, soy sauce, ginger garlic paste, water along spices in a blender and give it blend until smooth. Adjust the seasonings and refrigerate it for about an hour to enhance the flavor. If your peanut butter and mayonnaise are salty adjust the seasonings and add salt accordingly. The soy sauce also has a salty taste so be careful not to put extra salt.

For the fries, I would prefer to get store-bought ones from your nearest grocery store but if you want to make crispy fries at home we are sharing the recipe and all the tricks with you.

How to choose the right potato variety for fries?

Firstly, select the right kind of potatoes for fries that are russet or Idaho potatoes. Russet potatoes are oval-shaped with brown thick skin to peel and comparatively larger than other potato varieties. They are high in starch and fluffy. As they are high in starch and fluffy it makes them crispier when fried.

Another suitable option is Idaho, they are also oval-shaped with light brown skin bit larger than other potatoes, and high in starch. Take these potatoes and slice them evenly into ½-inch thick pieces. Put them in ice cold water for about 15 -20 minutes and then drain them and pat dry them with a kitchen towel.

Sprinkle a generous amount of all-purpose flour on the sliced potatoes and coat them evenly with the flour. Toss them in a strainer to remove extra flour. You can also freeze a bag of fries in a zip lock like this and fry them whenever you want.

Next, take hot oil for frying in a deep dish pan that has to be non-stick and fry them at medium-high heat until the fries become crispy and golden brown. Serve them with the peanut sauce and sprinkle salt according to taste.

Now, the next version of the peanut sauce is without mayonnaise and is like a thick curry, prepared on the stove. For this, the ingredients are pretty much the same but the process is slightly different.

  • Without Mayonnaise

Ingredients

½ cup of Peanut Butter

¼ cup of water

¼ cup of soya sauce

2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste

1 tablespoon of sweet soya sauce

1 teaspoon of ground cumin

½ teaspoon ground coriander

Salt and pepper to taste

 Recipe

In a blender add all the ingredients including soya sauce, peanut butter, ginger garlic paste, sweet soya sauce, and spices along with water. Blend them until smooth and take a pan with some oil to cook the sauce. Put the flame on low to medium heat and cook the sauce for 5 minutes until thickens.

Stir the Peanut sauce continuously while cooking and turn off the flame as soon as it thickens. Adjust the seasoning according to taste and serve it with fries. You can also have it with grilled chicken and vegetables. It tastes super delicious and has that nutty aroma and taste. Enjoy, and do let us know how you like it in the comments.
