Bengali Achari Tomato Chutney

This Bengali Achari Tomato Chutney will blow your mind with its perfect aroma and tangy taste. Lets make it!

Ingredients

5-6 medium tomatoes

1 teaspoon of mustard seeds (Rai)

1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste

1 teaspoon of nigella seeds (Kalonji)

1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds (methi dana)

3 to 4 nos of green chilli (chopped)

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera)

½ teaspoon of turmeric powder (haldi)

salt to taste

½ teaspoon chili flakes

2-4 tablespoons of oil for cooking.

 

Recipe

Take a pan, add oil, and add fenugreek seeds (methi), garlic ginger paste, and green chilies. Heat them for about a minute or two. Add thinly diced tomatoes along with salt and turmeric powder. Cook the tomatoes on low heat until mushy and add coriander powder, cumin seeds, and kalonji to it. Turn the flame off when it starts to release oil and cool it for a while.

Blend the cooled mixture in a blender and take about 2 tablespoons of oil to temper the chutney. Add chili flakes and mustard seeds (Rai) to the hot oil and heat it until it starts to crackle. Pour the tempered oil on top of the blended tomato chutney. It has that brilliant aroma at the end.

Bengali Achari Tomato Chutney is ready, it is best served with boiled rice but you can also have it with paratha or chapati.

Try it once and you will fall in love with the flavor and blend of spices it has. Moreover, it just tastes like achar but is a healthy option and so easy to make.
