Reusable Beeswax Food wraps

We always spend bucks on storage boxes and food wraps but here is how you can make your Reusable Beeswax Food wraps to store food. You can easily replace it with cling film or foil and store fruits and vegetables to prevent them from rotting. Beeswax is a form of wax used to make candles, and balms and is completely safe for consumption. Additionally, these wraps are reusable and can be washed multiple times with cold water and light soap. Let’s learn how to make them!

Materials

·       Beeswax

·       Parchment Paper or Silicon mat

·       Iron

·       Scissors

·       Tablecloth into squares

·       Baking tray or convection oven-safe tray

Preparation

First, wash and dry the cloth to remove dirt or any chemical residue then cut the cloth into foldable square pieces. You can also cut them into rectangles if you like. Take the beeswax bar and grate them or make thin wax pellets. Now there are two ways to make it one is to iron the cloth with parchment paper and the second to heat it in the convection oven. Both ways are mentioned with details as follows:

With Iron

Take a silicon mat or parchment paper on a flat surface and place the cloth on top. Sprinkle the grated beeswax generously on the cloth and place another layer of parchment paper on top. Heat the iron in low mode and no steam mode. Gently iron the parchment paper on top of the cloth which will melt the wax into the fabric. Iron in a circular motion until the cloth soaks in all the moisture of the wax. Once it is completely dissolved remove the parchment paper from the top and hang it to air dry. They will become slightly sticky and foldable after drying. Store them in a cool dry place.

In Convection Oven

Take the baking tray and place the parchment paper on the tray. Then put the table cloth and sprinkle the beeswax on the cloth. Bake it for five minutes at 150 Degrees Celsius until the wax melts and is completely soaked into the cloth. Cool it until it seems foldable and has a sticky texture. It will make you some amazing reusable beeswax food wraps and you can easily use it for covering bowls and platters.
